Dave Black: photographer, educator, author, and Nikon Ambassador.

“I love to make pictures.” Dave Black’s education in Commercial Graphics Design and Studio Drawing lend well to his vision of photography. “I love to make pictures that draw the audience in for a closer look.”

Photojournalism Career:   As a freelance photographer for nearly 40 years Dave is a Nikon Ambassador with depth and history. His work has centered on the SPORTS and Action imagery for such publications as Sports Illustrated, Time, Newsweek and the award winning TV show Sports Century on ESPN. The list of sports event coverage includes the Masters, Kentucky Derby, National Football League, NASCAR and extensive work regarding the United States Olympic Committee, Olympic athletes and coverage of 12 Olympic Games.

Creative Lighting:   Known for his Creative use of High Speed Sync Speedlights and Strobes, and in particular with the artistic technique of Lightpainting, Dave’s portfolio continues to broaden into the commercial and advertising industry for VISA, Reebok, McDonalds, Chevrolet, and K&L Tokyo, and with specialized Lighting projects for the National Geographic and their book Where Valor Rests, Arlington National Cemetery.

Educator:   Dave has long been involved as an educator where his “Nikon Ambassadorship” keeps him closely involved with the next generation of photographers by teaching numerous Workshops and Seminars each year.  Dave also conducts Instructional Presentations for Universities, Colleges and local Photography groups each year.
